      DESCRIPTION OF THE AREA

Alcúdia, meaning 'the hill' in Arabic, is one of the oldest insular towns, in fact, the city of Pollentia from who's ruins the town of Alcúdia was constructed, was once the capital of the Balearic Islands having been founded by the Romans in the II century B.C. The original road from Alcúdia to Palma also dates back to that time.

Though no longer the Balearic's capital, Alcúdia is, in actuality, considered one of the most important tourist centres in the Islands.

Thanks to her privileged geographical situation being directly on a sensational natural bay featuring an extensive coast and transparent waters, Alcúdia and it's port are extremely popular tourist attractions.

It's especially suited to young families due to the water's remaining shallow for quite a way out into the sea, making these beaches some of the safest for children and non-swimmers.
