The municipality of Artà
lies in the north east of Mallorca about 60 km from the city of Palma.
Many archaeological sites are located in Artà less than 1 kilometre from the
town centre. In the south east direction is a
are the ruins of "Ses Païsses", a pre-historic village from the Balearics'
Talayotic period, dating back to approximately
1300 BC. This site is of great archeological importance, not only in Artà,
but in all of eastern Mallorca.
We recommend a visit to "L'Almudaina", the fortified walls surrounding Arta,
which once held within a the sanctuary of Sant
Salvador.
