DESCRIPTION OF THE AREA
The
municipality of Selva includes the villages of: Selva, Biniamar and Moscari.
Its about 47,48 km2 and has around 2903 inhabitants. Located in the northern
area of the island, on the low land of the "Sierra Tramuntana"
mountains. In these calcareous mountains you will find many olive plantations and forests .
The most important industry, is the production of shoes and leather
accessories. Other industries include the
production of roof tiles, ceramics and pots. Also the making of
olive oil contributes to the gastronomy of Mallorca.
The local saint day is on the 10th of August (San Llorenç) .
